Grand Canyon

Hello from Phoenix! It's hot, but we are doing great! We are still really enjoying Phoenix. Only 6 weeks left. I can't believe how fast it is going! No time to spare...lots to do and lots to see before we head to....wherever we are going to head to next. You know us, always up to something!

Our latest: The Grand Canyon. Awesome. Absolutely breathtaking. We had a wonderful time. Note to all of my married blogg readers out there: a very romantic place. I love Maggie and all...but, you know. Like I said, it was a great trip and I would love to go back if anyone was up for a trip. : ) I took a million pictures, but unfortunately I was pretty disappointed with them when I got home. They just do not come close to doing it justice. You just can't fit the magniture Grand Canyon into a picture. But you know me...I tried!  
 

  We stayed in a little bity, ity bity, tiny, we're talking nothing to it town right outside of the Grand Canyon National Park. There are a few hotels and a McDonalds (which I accidently stole a bottle of water from...a fugitive on the run). It was a nice escape from city life though. We spent our first afternoon on National Park Service tour that takes you to each overlook point. Other than the drunk tour guide that would not leave us alone, it was really fun. We finished the afternoon off watching the sunset from the highest point over the canyon. It was incredible, there are no words to describe it. After taking the Infinity off road to chase an elk through the desert, we headed back to "town" for a night out...we were in bed by 10:00.

The next morning we got an early start for sunrise over the canyon. In my entire life, I will never forget experiencing the glory of God in the sunset and sunrise over the Grand Canyon. There is absolutely nothing in the this world that could possible come close. It is spectacular.

After our sunrise service, we were starving so we decided to hit the "town" to find continental breakfast at one of the hotels. No luck. Forced to starve until Mickey D's opened up. And then we were off for more. Yes...we made it to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. No...we did not hike it there. We thought about it. But we stoped thinking about it when one of the park rangers told us that we were not as in shape as we thought we were. Jerk. Seeing as how we are "not in shape" fpr the 9 mile one way hike, we had to figure something else out. The mule rides were all sold out for the day, so we opted for the princess route: a leisurly raft trip through the canyon. It was wonderful! Maybe not so much of a "rafting" trip as a "float" trip. No white water. No rapids. A bus picked up us, drove us to the bottom of the canyon, we hopped on our yaght and we literally floated 20 miles down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. It was beautiful! Very relaxing and a really neat way to see the base of the canyon.

  It was a fabulous time! There is nothing like the Grand Canyon! I hope that everyone of you has the opportunity to experience it! Call me--you know I'm always up for a roadtrip!!
